We got some great news that Will Trent Season 2 will happen. When should we expect to see the season arrive on ABC?

Will Trent has been renewed for a second season. That’s great news for fans, and the show certainly deserves it. While it may not seem to have the strongest live ratings, it’s got some great storytelling, excellent actors, and plenty of source material to run with.

The series is based on Karin Slaughter’s books about the Georgia detective who does everything he can to hide his dyslexia. His dyslexia, or at least his strategies to hide it, help make him a better cop, and that’s certainly what we saw in the freshman season.

So, now that the first season has ended, we’re ready for more. How long will we need to wait for Will Trent Season 2?

When is the Will Trent Season 2 premiere?

We weren’t sure if the series was going to be moved to the fall schedule once we learned of the renewal. Well, it turns out that it’s remaining as part of the midseason schedule, but not because ABC isn’t happy with the performance. All scripted shows are part of the midseason schedule this year.

The writers strike is putting a lot on hold. Rather than run the risk of not having enough content, ABC has opted for a fall lineup that is fully unscripted. We’ll get reality shows and game shows to fill the gaps.

When will the scripted shows return? The earliest we’ll get Will Trent Season 2 is January 2024. This will depend on scheduling plans then and on the writers strike—and the potential SAG strike. We’ll share more when we know it.
