The Winchesters is three episodes in, and it’s clearly not filmed in the same place as Supernatural. Where is the prequel series filmed?
After just three episodes, it’s very clear that The Winchesters* is not filmed in the same place the OG series was. Supernatural was filmed in British Columbia, Canada. The studio was in Vancouver, but there were plenty of locations around the province used.
That is not the same place the prequel series is done. That’s not too surprising when you consider Jensen Ackles is involved. One of the reasons for the end of Supernatural was that Ackles and Jared Padalecki wanted to spend more time with their families in Texas. So, when Padalecki ended up signing onto Walker, which is filmed in Texas, we weren’t all that surprised.
The Winchesters filming location
So, where is the Supernatural prequel filmed? We’re staying in the United States, but it’s not in Kansas. Sorry, the real Lawrence is still not used.
The series is filmed in New Orleans, Louisana instead. For those who know a fair bit about the Ackleses, this won’t be too surprising. Daneel is original from Louisiana.
It turns out the change is due to the color palette everyone wanted to go for. Vancouver is known to give a cool blue color, while New Orleans has an amber quality. As the series is set in the past, Ackles and co. wanted that amber tone to reflect that, according to TVLine.
Overall, you won’t notice that much difference. Well, we shouldn’t anyway. It’s just that the entrance to the bunker is very different.
