Icy Bob can withstand low temperatures, but Wilford is pushing him to the max on Snowpiercer Season 2. Is it something to do with Melanie?

Wilford is always a few steps ahead of everyone, so it’s not surprising that he has someone like Icy Bob. Having someone who can withstand the cold the way he can is important in a world that is literally frozen over.

However, Wilford is now pushing Icy Bob—and he wants to do it quickly. It suggests that there is something immediate that he wants Icy Bob to do, and it could be connected to Melanie.

At the end of Snowpiercer Season 2, Episode 3, Melanie left the train with her equipment. She’s remaining in the Rockies for a month to collect data, proving that the temperatures are dropping. This data would allow her to predict when recolonization of the Earth could happen.

Would anyone want to do something to stop that? Mr. Wilford probably would.

Mr. Wilford is only interested in power on Snowpiercer

I view Wilford as a certain former President. He’s only really interested in what people can do for him. Wilford wants power, and he is willing to do whatever he can to make sure someone else’s power is delegitimized.

In this case, he sees that Melanie stands a chance of taking followers away from him. He doesn’t want to stop the train from moving and allow humans to recolonize the Earth because that means he loses power. Sure, there will be some people who will choose to stay with him, but he wants the entire human race to follow.

So, chances are he wants Icy Bob to take out Melanie while out in the cold for the next month. Icy Bob won’t have the tools that Melanie has to protect himself, so he needs to be able to withstand colder temperatures than he can now for a longer period of time.

We didn’t see Icy Bob get dropped off, but that doesn’t mean it won’t happen. Icy Bob could already be gone. Or maybe Wilford is going to drop him off at a point further up the Rockies. Either way, he’ll want Icy Bob to prevent Melanie from collecting the data.
