The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power has debuted on Prime Video. We already want a second season of the series. Is The Lord of the Rings Season 2 going to happen?

There is no doubt we’ve all been eagerly anticipating the first season of The Lord of the Rings series. The RIngs of Power takes place centuries before the first books, and nobody really knows what is to come. We just know where the story needs to eventually go. With thousands of years to get there, anything is possible.

Only two episodes have dropped so far. There are still six episodes to come, but we’re already looking ahead. Will The Lord of the Rings Season 2 happen? What are the chances of Amazon renewing the series?

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 2 is officially happening

There’s some excellent news. We already know that Season 2 is happening. Deadline reported the great news back in 2019! Yes, it’s been that long since we’ve known about the second season.

The news came out just as the first season went on a hiatus. After filming the first episodes, changes happened and some time off was necessary. Then the world shut down, and the team got a little more time off before getting the go-ahead to return to New Zealand and film again. There were strict rules for filming, but it all worked out.

During the break, the second season was mapped out and written. This has allowed filming to get straight back into business so there isn’t a long wait for it. After all, streaming shows have proven long waits don’t help them, and we want to see this epic journey succeed.
