World’s Finest Collection Summer 2020 mystery box review

Sales for the fall 2020 World’s Finest Collection are open. Not sure if you should get it? Here’s a look at the summer box to help.

It’s the time of year to start looking at the next quarter of the World’s Finest Collection. The fall 2020 sales are open, so you’ll be looking at reviews for past boxes to find out if it’s worth the month.

We recently got the World’s Finest Collection summer 2020 box, with its Wonder Woman theme. It’s a retro Wonder Woman, which sort of makes up for the fact that it’s yet another Wonder Woman box. However, I still hope to see something different in future boxes.

This box was likely done to time with the Wonder Woman 1984 movie. It was supposed to be released in July 2020, but a certain pandemic changed plans. So, I guess it does make up for the box. However, I hope future boxes will start to see some changes; give us characters that we’re not used to seeing in the DC world.

But what abou the box itself? What was inside the Retro Wonder Woman box and was it worth the money? Let’s take a look inside.

A hit and miss box

This is one of those boxes where you’ll love the items or you’ll hate them. I’m not sure there is a middle.

I’ll start by saying there are some brilliant items when it comes to Comic-Cons and artwork. There are also some awesome items for the kids. However, there are also some items that I’m not just that bothered about.

Let’s start with the bad.

The vinyl is pretty standard. It’s a bust vinyl, so it’s only the waist up. It is definitely the retro Wonder Woman from the comics, and the vinyl will work with a lot the other recent vinyl busts. They’re not my thing, though. The busts tend to be handed to the kids. After all a while, there are just too many vinyls.

The Supernatural boxes have different types of vinyls or plushes. I’d love to see something similar with the World’s Finest Collection.

Then there’s the coin purse. It’s for coins, so it’s not surprising it’s small. However, does anyone even carry that much cash on them anymore? I certainly don’t!

Finally, it’s the hat. I like the bold colors, but it’s clear that it is Wonder Woman. There’s nothing extra special about it. It’s time for something unique.

The bag is different but there are some downsides to it. I’ll start with the fact that it’s see-through. Do we all want people seeing what we’re carrying in our bags? Not if I’m at a comic-con! On top of that, the strings are really hard to draw, making it useless for my children who would likely use the bag.

Something different for artwork and shirt

I will say there are a couple of items that are different, and they’re my favorite items. The first is the shirt. While it’s not something I’ll wear outside of Comic-Con, I do love the option of the button-up shirt instead of the standard T-shirts or hoodies. The material is quite hard, though. It reminds me of the shirts you’d put on over your clothes when painting in school.

The second item I really liked was the artwork. Instead of a poster, this one is a canvas. It’s a fairly soli canvas, too, something that isn’t going to easily get damaged. The artwork is like a postcard, welcoming people to the home of the Amazonians. At the same time, it keep the comic book appeal, so it’s definitely been well thought out.

The artwork is something I dislike in the Supernatural boxes. This is something I’d love to see used in them.

Finally, I have to mention the pin. Usually, I’m not a fan of the pins, but this one is something different. The middle of it spins. I’m sure there will be a lot of fidgeting with this, so the kids are definitely not getting this one.

Overall, the box isn’t one of my favorites, but that’s based on what I prefer and like. It’s time for something different; something that makes these mystery crates stand out.
