Wynonna Earp saved for Season 4: Production starts for 2020 premiere on SYFY, Space

Earpers can officially breathe a sigh of relief. Wynonna Earp Season 4 production has officially started!

While hearing your favorite shows have been canceled is hard, Wynonna Earp fans were delivered a hard blow earlier this year. Earpers around the world were threatened with no more show and not because the networks wanted to cancel it. It was all due to financial problems.

Well, the hard part is now over. After radio silence for far too long, we’ve now got confirmation that production on Wynonna Earp Season 4 has officially begun. Yes, the show has been saved and we get an idea of when it will air on network TV.

Get summer 2020 in your diary. Okay, so it’s a year away (and two years since we watched Wynonna Earp Season 3, but we at least get an idea of when it will be. More importantly, fellow Earpers, we know that it is definitely going to happen!

The problems were all thanks to IDW losing money. The international Netflix deal wasn’t renewed after the first two seasons (which is why those outside of the U.S. don’t have Season 3!) and that put pressure on the production company. However, it was contractually obliged to provide the fourth season to SYFY and Space.

It turns out that SYFY wants the show so much that it’s paid more than obliged for the licensing of the show to make sure production happens. According to Deadline, Cineflix Studios has also come aboard the project to ensure it is made.

Wynonna Earp Season 5 was also ordered at the time of Season 4 by SYFY, although this wasn’t made public knowledge until we found out about the financial difficulties. Hopefully, production for Seasons 5 will run off the back of Season 4 and that will ensure no long break between the two seasons to make up for the recent hiatus.
