We haven’t even seen Yellowjackets Season 2 yet, and we already know about the show’s future. Is a third season going to happen?

After an exciting first season, we weren’t shocked to learn that Yellowjackets would get a second season. However, there’s been a long wait for that second season. There had been hope we’d get it at the end of 2022, but now we’re waiting until 2023.

That did mean we weren’t expecting any renewal updates just yet. TVLine treated us to some great news ahead of Christmas and the New Year. We have found out what’s going on with the series.

Yellowjackets Season 3 is officially happening

There is some great news. SHOWTIME has confirmed that we will get a third season of the teen disaster drama. Melanie Lynskey, Juliette Lewis, Christina Ricci, and Tawny Cypress are set to be back. At least, that’s as long as nothing happens to them in the second season.

This early renewal comes due to cast options expiring. SHOWTIME had to make a decision without seeing how well the second season would perform. It’s a risk, but a better risk than allowing the cast options to expire and not being able to get the main cast back in the future.

Lauren Ambrose and Simone Kessell will join in the second season as adult versions of Van and Lottie respectively. It’s time to learn what happened to more of the characters while they were in the wilderness.
