Netflix’s You officially renewed for a third season: Get the details
Netflix has made it official. You Season 3 is happening. Here are all the details, including the number of episodes and when we’ll see the third season.
Ready for more of Joe Goldberg’s cautionary tale of sharing too much online? Well, he’s coming back for another year. Netflix has officially renewed You Season 3, and we even had the details on when the series will return.
The renewal isn’t all that surprising, to be honest. We just have to look at the social media presence online, with fans sharing their theories and thoughts on the twisty journey Joe/Will took throughout Season 2. Then there’s that ending with the mystery woman, who may or may not be Joe’s mother. Whoever she is, she has become his latest infatuation on the series. Just how will Love react to that considering what we found out about her?
Those two seem made for each other! However, Joe has found someone he’s terrified of. He’s met someone who’s just as dark and twisted as he is, and he’s not in a dangerous situation. Do we feel sorry for him? Probably not!
Episode count and release date
But let’s focus on what we know about You Season 3. When renewing the series, Netflix announced that there would be 10 episodes. This is expected considering the previous two seasons have been 10 episodes long. Sticking to this format is working, telling a contained story without dragging out particular storylines.
There isn’t a set release date, but we know that the show is coming in 2021. It’s possible that we’ll get it early in 2021. Most Netflix Originals take 12 to 14 months for new seasons to head to the streaming site. Since Season 2 arrived on Dec. 26, we could look at the end of February 2021.
Hello, You Season Three.
We are grateful to our partners at @netflix and @warnerbros for the endless support…. and most of all, we are grateful to every one of you freaky voyeurs for watching. See you soon, neighbor. #YouNetflix pic.twitter.com/nIc39ejomc

Who is returning?
Right now, the pre-production will start. Co-creators Greg Berlanti and Sera Gamble will remain as Executive Producers, with Gamble serving as the showrunner for the season. She also tweeted out that the show had been renewed early on Jan. 14.
Deadline has also confirmed that Penn Badgley and Victoria Pedretti will return as Joe and Love. That’s understandable considering the way the second season ended. It’s not clear if any of the others from the second season return, although there are certainly questions about Ellie after everything that happened to Delilah. It would also be nice to see the real Will return since he was the one to get away.
YOU: The Complete First Season
You Season 1 on DVD
The news about You Season 3 comes on the day of the first season heading to DVD. Fans can now watch the entire first season, which saw Joe’s introduction and his infatuation with Beck, without their Netflix subscription. We’ll likely see the second season head to DVD too, but this probably won’t be for at least another 12 months. It could actually be to time with the release of the third season on Netflix.
